Simon

A busker performs in Paris but has plans to bring his violin elsewhere.

Grace. Elegance. Promise. These words best describe the beautiful film, Simon, directed by Chrissie Jiarong Lu. Her documentary follows the Caravaggesque violinist and pianist, Simon Royer, busks the streets of Paris to fund his travels to Italy which is he admits, “the number one place to go for classical music.” Eva Wu’s stunning cinematography folds seductively into Stella Tianyu Shu’s pitch-perfect sound recording. Fused with Simon’s youthful energy and love for music, Simon, portrays—cinematically, painterly—Paris’s unique aura in which artists have for centuries come to partake.
